Each year the AATSP sponsors the Poster Contest that is open to K-12 Spanish and Portuguese students whose teachers are current AATSP members. Posters must first be sent to the local AATSP Chapter. Please contact your AATSP Chapter for Poster Contest deadlines.

2025 Xperitas Language Matters Award

 

The NJAATSP Chapter is pleased to announce the Xperitas Language Matters Award, sponsored by Xperitas in collaboration with our chapter. 

We invite teachers to send their nominations to: aatsp.nj@gmail.com

    Entry Deadline: Feb 1, 2025

    Mission statement:


    To celebrate and promote cultural appreciation, language learning, creativity, celebration of diversity and global connections through student art.

    Senior Essay Contest

    Entry Deadline: Feb 3, 2025

    RULES: 

    1. One entry will be accepted per school for each category (heritage speaker and traditional learner). 
    2. Teacher of a student candidate who is currently enrolled in Spanish must fill out this online application and return it to NJAATSP postmarked by February 18, 2025. 
    3. The teacher must be a current member of NJAATSP. 
    4. NJAATSP will e-mail the essay question to the Guidance Office.

    Essay Writing

    Deadline to submit Essay: Feb 21, 2025

    1.  Applicant will be called to the Guidance Office to write the essay. No resources (computers, dictionaries, etc.) may be used. 
    2. Applicant must do the writing unassisted, without the aid of a dictionary and under the supervision of a guidance counselor. 
    3. Guidance will send the essay to NJAATSP postmarked by February 21 to: Maria Papaleo at Papaleomaria50@gmail.com or at Maria Papaleo, 16 Harwich Court, Scotch Plains, NJ 07076 
    4. Late entries postmarked after February 21 will be disqualified
